My First Novel Is Published!

Cover, Out of the OrdinaryAfter just about 7 years of writing, revising, editing and proofing, I submitted my “baby” to an electronic publisher. Out of the Ordinary was the story that came into my head and would NOT leave… the characters became my friends, as real and as alive as anyone I’ve ever known.

It was hard to say good-bye, to let go. But in late April I screwed up my nerve, bit the bullet and sent my first full length novel (anoither is in the works) to an electronic publisher I’d been hearing about for some time. Much to my amazement, they accepted the work and now have it up for sale on their website!

It’s such an amazing feeling to hold your finished novel in your hands (these guys do POD too) and know this work is yours… every sentence, every scene came from you. It is the most unbelievable feeling… a sense of accomplishment, pride in the work and no small measure of absolute, utter terror at what people will think of it.

All I can do now is get the word out, and hope against hope that others see in this story what I saw… find the characters as compelling as I did and care about what happens to them as much as I do.

If nothing else, at the very least I can now say I’m a “published” author!

  1. Congrats! I am in the same position. It took me over 10 years and I just self-published my children’s book in March. I would love to swap stories with you about marketing ideas. Good luck!
